This topic of month’s ReFamily Dinner is communal living and will feature a conversation with Dr. Lily Lamboy, Executive Director of The Modern Family Institute (MoFI), and her husband Alex Savtchenko, who is the Head of Business Operations for MoFI. Lily & Alex will be talking about their personal journeys as partners in life and love who are committed to co-living and building chosen family, as well as their professional work as community organizers centered around designing and building housing and finance infrastructure that supports people living with and near their families of choice. Lily & Alex own and operate Ryza, a community home in Berkeley which they share with six friends.

Dr. Lily Lamboy is the Executive Director of the Modern Family Institute. An educator, organizer, artist, and researcher, her life is focused around how we can arrange social and economic resources to ensure care for all people across their lifespans. Prior to founding Modern Family Institute, Dr. Lamboy led the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion functions at both Stripe and Blue Shield of California, where she designed and executed scalable strategies for long-term social change. She holds a PhD in Political Science from Stanford University, where she also served as a Lecturer in the Rhetoric and Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies programs. She loves to make theater, cook, spend time with her friends ' kids, and create opportunities for loved ones to deepen their relationships.
